Hello All--
Re: CSS and fonts issues
<snip>
reference to the need to put a font in quotation
marks within a CSS file
</snip>
quoted from O'Reilly, Web Design in a Nutshell, page 400:
"Font names which contain character spaces must be enclosed in
quotation marks (single or double)."
So.... all fonts such as Comic Sans MS or Tempus Sans ITC must be contained
in quotes so the program knows it is a single entity.
In general, no attribute=value pair may contain a character space in the
value unless it is enclosed in quotation marks (single or double). This
applies to all attribute pairs, whether we are discussing CSS, JavaScript or
plain html. To be consistent, I add the quotation marks even when it is not
necessary to put them around a value pair (i.e. name="georges_shorts")
Netscape is inconsistent in rendering CSS. It can handle linked ones, but
does best and most consistently with an embedded one. Whichever style
attribute is physically closer to the formatted text overrides a stylesheet.
And this is true both of Netscape and IE.
Me? I am going to party! Have a great one, all!
