This sounds like a color "mode" problem. Has the TIFF file been converted to
either RGB, (JPEG) or Indexed, (GIF) ??

Also, in selecting a special color you may also have a problem. It could be
that you should save your image as a JPEG rather than GIF.

Also, you mentioned Save rather than Save As. You must use Save As and
choose the correct file type in the dialog screen.

I can not give step by step as I use Canvas rather than PhotoShop but the
methods are basically the same:

Open the TIFF file.

Check the color mode. (CMYK, RGB, Grayscale, Indexed, B&W (one bit), etc.
Note: for GIF's you may have to use "Indexed".

If you select a color beyond the "web safe" range, the color may dither.
GIF's only have about 216 colors to play with. JPEG's have 16 million and
are done in RGB mode.

The trouble is likely to be found in one of the possibilities listed above.

There should also be some helpful suggestions in PhotoShop's Help files
under "Saving in other file formats" or something similar.
