I have done three or four sites professionally and have learned that the coding of the page is the easy part. Extracting content from clients, getting them to formalize what they want from the webpage and dealing with people that are web-ignorant are my big problems. I am starting to put together a questionaire for clients to answer before I get into the design process. This is what I have so far. Any additional suggestions? Give a brief description of your business or organization. What do you hope to accomplish with your website? -Marketing tool -reduce in-house paperwork -e-commerce How does the site fit into your overall strategy? Who is your target audience? Do you plan to update the site regularly or is this a one-shot deal? -Who will be in charge of maintenance and what are their computer skills? Do you already have a corporate style? (if so, include examples of marketing and other in-house literature) Do you already have a site and if so, what is it that you dont like about the site? Are there any sites that you particularly like and why? Any features that you consider must haves? Who is in charge of content generation? Who is the contact person in the organization for design approval? What is your budget for site authoring? What, if any, is your budget for site registration? Who is the contact person for payment?
