Well, this site deals with a game that has some rather complicated rules for
participation, and a lot of background information that has to be
assimilated by a player. If someone has never played a game like this, I
would expect them to spend a lot of time on my site and on others like it
(which I give links to), learning how to be a part of a community of other
players. That's not something that can be done in a few minutes, or even one
visit.
I don't do anything to prevent someone from leaving my site. They are
welcome to go to another site if they wish. I do try to produce a site that
they will want to stay and look around in.
I know of several sites that I will go to for information, which I might
spend an hour or so browsing multiple pages, going back to certain pages and
checking information.
I guess it's a matter of different products for different needs.
