Webbot's are small snippets of code, not unlike VBScript or a
form of DHTML, ASP or CGI, (similar--not the same), that allow
programs like FrontPage to carry out special functions. The one
that you mention is just one method of including a file from an
outside source in the page. In this case, it is very much like
SSI. Some of these "Bots" require "extensions" to be running on
the server--some do not.

One of the most often used is an "Insert HTML" bot that allows
you to place your own code and insure that FrontPage will not
alter it no matter how many conflicts you might subsequently
create with your mouse. It is really neat as you end up with a
small yellow rectangle on your "working" page, (Normal View) to
represent this code. You can select, copy and paste this "box"
much easier than trying to locate code in a page of HTML.

FrontPage is not the only program that uses Bots but it is the
one I am the most familuar with.
