I am working on a page of poetry for a client. I have a background of grey brick with a table set up in two columns, with a border of black birds on the left and the poems on the right. However, there are 15 poems on the page which makes the bird border very long also, so I have to use multitudes of copies of the birds on a long page. I'm wondering if there is any way to tile the border, i.e., make it a background within the one table column and if so, will this work on all browsers? Lori, Try this; it's 'legal' and you specify each image only once. Create a one row, three column table (3 cells). In the first cell create another table with only one row and column (1 cell). Use your bird image for the background of this 'nested' table. Back in the main table: the third cell will contain your poetry. The second (middle) cell will act as a spacer between your border and the poetry. And of course your page will still use the brick background. You will have to specify the width and height of the cell in the nested table. The width will be that of the birds and the height will be however long (high) your poetry is. Adjust the width of the middle cell in the main table to achive the desired spacing between border and poetry. Steve A.
