CSS for page layout

Greetings,

I am designing a page using cascading style sheets to position the elements
on the page. The elements consist of graphics and text. I am VERY new to
this (my first attempt, actually) and would like advise/guidance from the
group on how to structure this so that it looks good across the array of
monitor sizes and screen resolutions that are out there. If anyone would
