Should pages share graphics files?

Hello All,

Here's a question daft enough to cause some amusement I guess!

Where a number of pages display the same graphic, I have been in the habit
of making a separate copy of it for each page, thinking that some sort of
conflict could occur if they shared the same file. Is there any sense in
this, or is it completely daft? Are there any circumstances where a separate
copy should be provided for each page? Any limit on the number of pages that
can safely share?
