I use both Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro (just downloaded the PSP 6 beta,
used to have older version then it expired and I had no use for it until
recently when getting in to web design)

In Paint Shop Pro I try to make a graphic that has text in it and when
saving/compressing it the text looks awful. Can't seem to figure out a way
to make the text come out of PSP looking good.

I do the same graphic in Photoshop and it looks great.

Editing a previously made graphic works great in Paint Shop Pro. Ex. I had
a client give me her graphic of a nude woman (she's an esthetician). The
whole graphic was just black in color. Her hair that flowed down her back
was too poofy for my client so I opened it in PSP and pixel by pixel
redesigned her hair so that it flowed nicely.

I don't know that it would have been that quick and easy in Photoshop
although it is possible.

So, anyway, I keep popping back and forth in between the two. I also got
Photoshop LE free somewhere and that version suits me fine.

I guess I'm with the rest of you that say that it depends on what you want
to do with it. Maybe we could hear a few more examples of what people do
with each program and that will help us all determine what type of graphic
editing we will be doing and what program will help us best.
