Hi all ...
My daughter just sent me a notice warning about a file called:
SULFNBK.EXE
The notice said to locate that file at C:windows\command\ and delete it.
This must be done prior to June 1.
Supposedly, it will "activate" itself on June 1st. and do terrible things.
Sure enough, there is such a file located in my Windows Command directory.
However---the thought occurs that the notice itself, may be a "virus" in its
own right and maybe it is telling you to delete something needed. And if
deleted, it will accomplish the mischief the sender intended.
So--the question is--does anyone know what SULFNBK.EXE is?? Do we need it??
That is to say, if it IS deleted, will the loss of that file actually cause
problems??
Or--should one take the notice at face value and delete the file??
The part that raised my suspicions, was the advise to not only delete it,
but to also empty it from the Recycle Bin. I don't know about you, but I
hate to completely get rid of a file from my Windows Command directory on
the advise of a stranger.
Any comment or suggestions would be appreciated.
Fingers crossed ...
