Freda:
There is no "secret" to getting your new--or old--web site noticed. It just
takes hard work and lots of money.
First off--Sure one has no choice, but to submit the site to the major
search engines, including the special ones relevant to the subject of the
web site-- but FORGET about it doing you much good. They wont!!
Second and most important--obtain a short, simple, easily remembered domain
name. The difference between:
www.simple.com and www.freebeesite.com/user/simple/ is obvious.
Now--The hard work part ...
Make contact with as many other web sites as possible to persuade them to
include a link to your site.
Include the URL of your web site in your e-mail signature and write
"everybody" on one pretext or another.
Write articles for inclusion in every relevant--and some not so
relevant--newsletters, magazines, local or national publications and be sure
to include the URL of the web site in the text somehow.
Consider joining any of several groups who will add your site and products
to a large shopping affiliate group. The idea here is that you will
automatically receive the benefit of banners, links etc. Someone looking for
widgets, will see your link and/or banner for gizmos and knowing it can be
added to the same shopping cart, will be more inclined to buy --- or at
least take note--bookmark--your site for future reference.
Persuade any and all related business people to include the wed site URL on
their business cards, letterheads, envelopes, and ALL other advertising.
The Spend money part:
There is simply no substitute for a six figure TV add campaign. In fact, any
successful web site will budget the vast majority of available funds on
advertising and sales.
Even small sites should consider local newspapers, TV and Radio. How about a
trade out with a local radio station playing the following ten second spot:
"For simple products ... Visit Simple-Dot-Com."
Remember, no one had ever heard of Amazon.Com until they spent 10 million
smackers ...
Best wishes
