This is often a "killing-a-fly-with-a-sledgehammer" solution, but Lotus Notes and Domino will give you an e-mail system that can be accessed by either the Notes client or a web browser. If you hook the Domino server up to the Internet, you can access e-mail via a browser from anywhere. There are also Domino hosting companies that will offer this as a service.
