To get FP Extensions on your ISP's server requires that you sometimes have
to present yourself before your ISP and jump up and down and yell a lot.
Leading a very fat and diarrheic donkey to the center of the ISP's best
carpet and offering to let nature ... A-hem
--is said to help.

Seriously. We use FrontPage all the time as a "page editor" but none of our
local ISP's supports the Extensions. Frankly--we have never missed them. You
can use other methods to incorporate most of the features. JavaScript,
Include files, CGI scripts, etc. etc. can all be done without the
Extensions. There are some articles on Microsoft's pages that describe many
of the features you CAN use without Extensions. Even many of the "Bots". I
do wish FP had listed these somewhere in their manual.

Like you, we use an FTP program to upload our files and have no problem.
Incidentally, you can still use many of the features of "site management"
available in FrontPage. Just stay away from Themes or any other obvious
features requiring Extensions.

Even without Extensions, FrontPage, (and many of it's competitors), is a
great time saver. Though I only have the older version, I am told that the
included JavaScript wizard in FP2K is worth the price of the upgrade alone.

Alas--someday. Best wishes
