Thanks everybody for answering my question about spacing. I put the header
in a new row in the main table and the space is gone.

Now I have a new problem. The green strip sticks out too far to the right.
The logo part of the header (at
http://www.soggybottomranch.com/Store/S&L/S&L.html) is exactly 125 pixels.
I have:

td.leftedge {background: #2a511e;  width: 125px;  text-align: center;
vertical-align: top}

to control the green strip. The right edge of the strip should be even with
the right edge of the logo but it's not. If I change 'width: 125px' to
'width: 98px', then they come out even, but then the buttons are left
aligned instead of centered and there's too much space between the buttons.
I think it's behaving as if it's centering between the left edge and some
point to the left of the right edge instead of the right edge itself.
Something is creating extra space on the right and I have no idea what it
is.

Tables seem to be nothing but trouble. One of these days I'll have to
figure out CSS positioning but I'm not sure I'm ready to take that step yet.
Thanks in advance.
