Has anyone got an opinion on this?

I use the old singlepixel.gif trick quite a lot in tables to get them just
the way I want. Out of curiosity I tried an online checker at
www.hitbox.com. It reported every instance of my single pixel as an HTML
error as I hadn't included an ALT tag.

My question is should I ignore this, or is there any advantage/disadvantage
in using an ALT such as ="."?
