Actually, it might work by stretching a 1-pixel image to the desired
dimensions, saving download time?
Nothing stops a pro, but maybe most pros don't steal each other's work?
Maybe they don't have to because they *are* pros...?

For those wondering how it was done here goes.
Create a new image the same size as the one you want to protect. Make that
image a solid color then save the image as a transparent gif.
When you create your web page do the images as layers pushing the real one
to the back and the transparent one on top. When you click the image... you
get the transparent one only.
The transparent image on my test page is larger the the one below so there
is overlap however you could make it the exact same pixel size.
