Not all free webhosts place ads/popups on your site, ie:

You can disable the pop-up, but it's not reccomended by me, w/ a
javascript, but then you still have that watermark don't you? (which I
thought didn't validate either?).
As far as getting a new free homepage host, you could start here, to see
which ones don't place any ads on your pages:
