Hi, I know this is going to sound SOOO trivial to many of you, but I need to
ask it.  I've downloaded a ".tar" file and need to extract it.  I'm on a
UNIX server (with FreeBSD OS), and cannot for the life of me extract the
contents of the file.  I have telnet access, but apparently am not using the
correct syntax.

Here is what I'm using while telnetted in and inside of the directory
containing the file in question:

tar xv name_of_file.tar.gz

When I press the "enter" key, however, the command prompt drops down to the
next line and just sits there forever blinking.  The file size is 160K.  Am
I doing something wrong here?
