Hiya Micheal!
<i>I'd like to install a chat room on one of my sites for a one time event,
to take place in a couple of months. The idea is to allow visitors to talk
to an expert in the field of cycling (bicycles) for about an hour. As such,
the owner doesn't want to spend much money (if any) to buy software. I know
there are sites which offer free chat rooms.</i>
Um, I use a free chat room named ParaChat which can be found at
http://www.parachat.com and I instanlled the code on the following page:
http://www.angelfire.com/ca/indubitable/chat.html
I think this chat room works wonderfully... You simply paste the code for
the java applet into your HTML document and when you load into the page the
applet sends for the information on the Parachat servers...
The two things that really bug me about this using this chat room is that it
can only accomodate 25 users... This is a large number, but if you group is
way larger your out of luck... The other disadvantage is that ParaChat is
owned by Xoom and when you register with Parachat you have to give your
e-mail addy and have it spammed to heck! ;-) Actually you only get a few
messages now and so often...
Either way, I love my chat room and use it a lot despite all the stuff
I've mentioned above... Evidently I don't have to accomodate large groups so
that isn't all that big of a problem!
Now, um, seeing as this chat of yours is a one time deal, um, you quite
welcome to use mine on the proscribed date! Just e-mail me personnally and
I'll see what I can do! ;-)
Good Day!
