Hi to everyone on this mailing list.
I have been lurking around a couple of months and taking in all that I can
from the questions and answers here. For the information you all pass on so
freely, I would like to say thank YOU!
I have written, only to reply to a link question etc a couple of times and
thought I would introduce myself and to ask something.
I have been slowly and I mean slowly working on my website for a while and
last night started musing with the thought of perhaps offering my services
for website design. Obviously being aware of my limited capabilities and
would not take on something I did not think I could achieve.
It is a long term goal of mine to be able to be a Web Page designer and to
be able to work, successfully, from home. At the moment it is a hobby as I
have a full time job which helps pay the bills *laughing*.
Now after my musing and *blushing now* last night playing around with a
design for a business site I, today, got the most wonderful email from
someone who said they had visited my website and had no idea how to set up a
homepage and would I help them. I was delighted to get an email like that
and I have gladly offered to help out.
My point, in this email, I guess is to ask anyone, and please email me
privately if you wish not to clutter the list, is how did those that are
involved in Graphic Design/Web Design etc get started? Is it best to find
full time employment in the field? Is it a matter of promoting your work and
working hard, online?
Any advice or suggestions, even pitfalls of starting out, even on a part
time basis would be very much appreciated.
Thanking You all in advance (and sorry to have maybe babbled on a little but
I just feel now is the time to start thinking about what I REALLY want to
spend my time doing)
