216 Netscape colors, a limitation, NOT!

Although this has nothing to do with the post I read that reminded me
of this, it is somewhat related and possibly of interest to new
developers.  

216 Netscape colors sounds like a limitation, but it's not.  :)

If you are creating a background image, whether it be textured, a
simple sidebar, or a large graphic, you can combine two browser-safe
colors in a checkerboard pattern to create a new color.  The
individual pixels are so close together that they look like a new
color.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work well with text, that I can see.  :)
