repeating background image

Hello!

I am creating a page which has a repeating background image. I tried using 
the background attribute in the table:

http://uss001.infi.net/fyiowa/Demo/hyvee/withbg.html

and I tried using stylesheets:
http://uss001.infi.net/fyiowa/Demo/hyvee/withstylesheet.html

Both work fine in IE but very poorly in Netscape. I feel that I may be 
missing a simpler solution. I tried using the background image on the page 
itself, within the body tag, and couldn't get the table snug against the 
left side, even after removing the cellpadding, cellspacing and border.  I 
hope that once you see it you will be able to figure out what I am 
attempting to do.

Also, there is a pesky little black line on the top right that I am trying 
to remove. That is a much smaller problem which I can contend with later. 
Its the background that's really giving me trouble.

Any suggestions?? I am subscribed via digest mode so please cc me so I can 
get this fixed ASAP. Thanks in advance!
