It seems to.  I've only tried it with Paint Shop Pro, MS Word and the 
"Print Test Page" function in the printer properties.

Um, don't know :).  I haven't tried, but I'm fascinated by this postscript file 
printer.  As an aside, does this just print to a .ps file, or does it print 
postscript files to your printer (since I'm in the middle of writing a LaTeX 
document for a report and would love to get a printout, but haven't been 
able to since I don't have a postscript printer at home, just at uni and I'm 
on holidays at the moment).

When the printer is off, the Epson status monitor doesn't detect it (mind 
you, it detects it fine when it *is* on, so that's not much help).

Yes, I've tried it on my Win95 laptop and it worked fine from there.

I have been told that it doesn't like Dr Solomon's Anti-Virus (which I have 
installed) and have looked at the Epson website and there have been 
some useful tips there.  I'll try them out and let you know of the result.
