Resolution check and Pop-up

Hello:

I have a site that looks best in 800x600 resolution. I would like to 
create a javascript that would check for the users screen 
resolution, then pop-up a small window that would tell them that 
800x600 is best if their resolution is not set to that. Does anyone 
know how to do such an animal as this? If not, do you know where 
information exists on learning how to do this?
