Thanks very much for that, Ted (and sorry about the time taken to reply,  
but mail hasn't been a top priority in exam season :(  ).

The URL that I gave was a version of my article especially for printing out. 
 The normal "viewable" version is located at:

and I use a table with a width set to 75% in that.  Maybe I should change 
it to an absolute size, but I've always thought that if you can get away 
with it, a percentage size is better.  I know that in a lot of cases you 
can't get away with this, but for just formatting text, it seems to work 
fine.  If you meant that it was too long on the printed page, then that's 
something that I've never thought about.  It's just something that I do a lot 
of at uni (printing a full A4 page of text, I mean) and I didn't think anything 
of it.
