Yes, that's what I went with eventually.  It still didn't make any difference until I removed the table 
align="top" that was already in the table tag (it's not my code -- I'm just rewriting it a bit to make 
better use of CSS.  Honest :o)  ).

Yes, it was an (unnecessary) align="top" attribute.  D'oh!

I had a bit of a break over lunch and then came back to it.  The problem here was the text in one 
cell of the table.  I restricted the size of this cell and it looks fine now.

only the front page has been changed to the new style).

Note: the menu doesn't work properly at all in NN4.7 (I've tested it in IE5.5, Mozilla 0.9.8 and 
Opera 6).  Does anybody know of any way that I can specifiy the main image inline and have the 
menu float on top of it (using standards-compliant HTML/CSS)
