Simple. Never EVER use Outlook Express.  

There are much bettter and safer e-mail handlers out there -- Pegasus 
Mail for one.  PM can be integrated with your favourite AV scanner to 
automatically screen all attachments and it will NOT execute any 
embedded worms in messages.  Oh, and PM is FREE, just like OE;  it 
just doesn't come embedded in your OS.  You can download it at
