My understanding (and I may be wrong) is that the primary domain part is
not case sensitive, but everything after the slash may be depending on the
server.
If it can be eliminated or not depends on what he is using for a server.
Unix/Linux servers are not case sensitive (or so I am told) while WinNT
servers are.
