Short answer - No.
Long answer - AOL uses a proprietary e-mail system that does not follow
standard protocols. AOL users may ONLY use the embedded e-mail client to
read/send mail. They also now have an optional browser interface called
AOL NetMail to access their e-mail from outside AOL itself. They have
considered many times opening up their system and making it standard, but
keep coming back to security issues. I think there's more to it, but
that's what they say. Employees who have Kerberos accounts on the aol.net
system can use other mail clients - but that's not their aol.com e-mail.
