Coincidentally, I just picked up a book titled "Creating Stores On The Web" 
by Joe Cautadella, Ben Sawyer & Dave Greely.  The publisher is Peachpit Press 
- these are the folks that make the wonderful Visual Quickstart Guide series.

I haven't dug into it yet so I can't review it for you although it was 
heavily recommended to me to read.  You can find more about the book and

You can also do a search using "web stores" as keywords - you'll come up with 
quite a few interesting sites.
