For whatever strange, only Microsoft knows, reason, smaller is the default=
=20
in IE 5 and apparently in IE5.5. The thing I keep reminding myself of is=20
that as a designer I need to use this default since a great many people=20
will be seeing my pages with this size text. Most people don't know they=20
can change the size text. (In fact, most people I encounter don't know=20
what a browser is or which one they use). What it means for me is that=20
text is larger for the people using NS, but I check it in that too and as=20
long as it looks good, I can live with that. Too big on one is much better=
=20
than so small you can't read it on another.

BTW, I read somewhere (I think on this list) about a web page designer who=
=20
continues to use dial-up even though other options are available in order=20
to continue to see realistic load times for pages. That (along with cost,=
=20
and a rude salesperson) are why I have just renewed my dial-up account. In=
=20
fact, I may be getting a new contract because I pointed out to someone that=
=20
the load time on their site was ridiculous, especially for a site catering=
=20
to rural churches and pastors. I optimized two images for them and now may=
=20
be getting the redesign contract!
