Just to clarify, do you  mean that you want to define a font family (e.g. in
a style sheet) and you want to know what fonts you can put together?

If so, the answer is that it is up to you.  Any fonts can be listed as a
family.
font-family: Arial, times, Helvetica, MS Comic sans, verdana, pippafont,
fantasy;

As far as I am aware there is no such font as pippafont but the browser does
not care.  It will just ignore it if it cannot find it and carry on until it
finds a font that it can use.

If you mean what fonts should sit in the same family in order to get the
most consistent presentation across platforms and browsers, this is going to
depend on your audience.  Using 'Times, Times New Roman, serif' and 'Arial,
Helvetica, sans-serif' are the stock answers - covers everyone but not very
exciting!  Again  it is up to you.
