i think my comment regarding ie's forgiveness of code has been completely
misconstrued, both by you and by virginia, who takes it personally.  i
validate code, re-read, etc. to make sure it's as perfect as can be.
however, ie's forgiveness of things like allowing a button outside the
<form> tags can be useful.  this is one minor example.  i'm not saying i
don't want to close <table> tags.  

okay, i'm sounding whiney, but my point is that this comment should not be
used as evidence that NN is the better browser.

i don't plan to, but thanks for the advice.  i'm can and will design
cross-browser pages and realize that NN isn't going away and can't be
ignored.  i still prefer to design for IE, though, because javascript and
css works in IE where it is buggy or non-functional in NN.
