I think the ftp theory is out of the question. Probably your editors. I'm
having a problem with HomeSite (which I'm new to) cutting spaces before
and after images within paragraphs when I do a code sweep. Maybe something
similar?

Maybe geocities runs a tidy by default and it's cutting spaces?
