I just answered a response thru personal email to Darrell. His response is
right. There is no really 'formal" education required here. If you can
design, and by design I mean visualise a page in your head, and take it there
with your code, that is great. I came into this with nothing, some graphic
arts, I am a semi-retired trucker with MS in Biology. I was asked to take
over a site, how??? I said??? You'll learn, I was told. It is not even a year
later, and I have gleaned more knowledge through trial and error, i am
working on my third site, and god forbid, can hand code almost all my pages!
I still waver between WYSIWYG editors, but so be it! I can see what i want
on my pages without the page there, and that is awesome! Better yet, I can
actually get it to do what I want, sometimes. Take some tim e, set up a few
"free' sites, you will be glad you did. And get some of those Sam's books!
They are great! Online courses can also be supportive, but experience and a
good eye are a necessity!
