Fuzzy, I read somewhere that it is recommended to put that space in there
for older browsers. I'll try to find it. 

But I also read last night in Cover's XML FAQ that older browser's have a
problem with the forward slash. I coded a page and it's includes last
night XHTML then checked them on NN3 (iMac) and everything looked great.
Actually the only problem I had, which I couldn't track down, was the
copyright in the footer was one point bigger in Windoze on the XHTML
version. BUT not in NN3. Everything was consistent across the board other
than that. Thought it was funny that Windoze had to come up with one
inconsistency, but was nice enough to leave it in the least interesting
content :}
