Hi David,
I'm using as a reseller, www.domainwizardry.com. They're located in
Brantford Ontario, I'm paying about $13US per domain.
They are in turn a reseller for TUCOWS out of Toronto. It's my
understanding that Tucows now registers more domains than anyone in the
world (including NSI), I assume it's unlikely they're going anywhere. In
fact, they're now bringing out the ability to get inexpensive SSL
certificates, so they're taking on Verisign and Thawte.
I'm not 100% sure about this, but I believe if domainwizardry.com went belly
up that you could just renew your domains with another one of Tucows
resellers and it should be transparent. I had some domains registered with
look.ca also a tucows reseller, and renewed them at domainwizardry with no
work at all. And while I can manage the sites through domainwizardry, I
tend to do so right at the tucows site.
I would suspect that if TUCOWS went belly up, you'd have to head to another
registrar and pay for a transfer at that point.
HTH.
Glenn
