trouble viewing source

I was working on someone's site and needed to cut and paste a script that I
use on my own site.........well rather than replacing my disk with my backup
information I pulled my site up with my browser and clicked on "view
source", and was going to just copy and paste it that way. When I do this it
is not working at all. It doesn't open up notepad ......it does absolutely
nothing.

I'm using MSIE 5.0 ...Are there some settings that I'm unaware about?? I've
never had it do this......
