Hi TeaJai,
I work for a company that makes digital audio and MIDI sequencers.
Music quality is specific to an instrument. If your musician friend is a
piano player, I would suggest that you use MIDI exclusively. If it is
vocals, guitar or a band, MP3 is a way to go. MIDI is by far smaller than
any MP3 file available.
Any newer sequencer worth it's salt can create an MP3 file, and if these
musicians have CD's of their music, almost all of the free MP3 players can
also 'rip' an MP3. It will be far easier for you to use mp3 from a CD, so
that's the way I'd suggest. Make certain it is their intellectual property
though, don't put up a cover of a copyrighted song.
