dsl contract?

Hello.  I have been having problems with my DSL provider for months.  Also
they told me an area where I will be moving to in a month or so will have
dsl well they are now saying 6 more months.  That obviously wont work.  They
want half of my monthly fee for early termination.  Here is my question.  I
dont remember them saying there was a 2 year contract.  I never signed one.
Can they charge me the half of the remander?
