Yes....agreed, although it can be difficult to justify a compiled program on
a low-budget small business site.  Also requires more work to ensure all the
libraries are present for interaction with expat, MySQL and other system
resources.  Altogether a bit more complex and expensive a solution in many
cases that scripting can provide.

Just another reason to write compiled programs rather than
interpreted scripts. Not only do they run faster, but if
the customer wants to change something, he has to come back
to you.
