Spam...how fun. :P

The problem you listed, Rachel, is the reason I use SpamCop. I've
mentioned this free service before on this list, but have no relation
to the site other than the fact that I am a loyal site user.

I get a lot of spam...who doesn't? :) When I sent complaints
directly to the ISP's in the past, i often found that nothing was
done and was also "blasted with both barrels." AFter searching for
ways to beat spam, someone recommended SpamCop. I went to the site,
applied for an account and cut-n-pasted the spam, complete with full
headers, into the form. Press a button and voila!--I know the source
of the spam. (Usually AOL.com, no surprise there, but occasionally a
Korean server.) Press another button and the server's owner gets a
form letter.

I've found that this is far more effective in beating spam because if
a domain name owner is renting server space from a 3rd party server,
they often won't care and you'll get the angry responses from
customer service (or whoever responds to the report you sent.) By
tracing spam to the originating server, you get the attention and
reaction of a person who doesn't want their resources abused. :)

The address for SpamCop, if you're interested, is
http://www.spamcop.com/.

Again, I have no direct affiliation with SpamCop. I'm just pleased
with the service they provide.
