Doug,

Please don't misunderstand my post.

I certainly don't disagree with laws to prevent people from breaching
copyright and I don't agree with cybersquatting either. If you are going to
register a domain name...use it.

What I DO object too is a big brother attitude of, you will do what we say,
or you will suffer and we will watch you to make SURE that you do as we
say. For any government or government agency to have the right to
physically hack into a private individuals computer and alter or remove
data is downright immoral IMHO.

I do nothing that is illegal...I do nothing that is even remotely related
to pornography, but as an adult, I will be damned if any government is
going to tell me that I can't view it, if I wish too. If I want to put up
an adult site, with all the disclaimers, and I run it efficiently, I should
be able to do so...(it's NEVER going to happen...but there IS a market for
it) If I have children, (and, incidentally, I do have one, who is now an
adult) it is my responsibility to monitor what they do on the Internet and
to make sure that they are fully aware of what is out there and how to
protect themselves from the "nasties". If I do not do that, then I am, as a
parent, not being responsible.

The Napster thing is not surprising and I personally can't imagine anyone
opening up their whole system to anyone that they happen to meet who might
be inclined to send them an infected file, nevermind about the copyright
issue. It's a very cute way of getting around having to actually buy the
music and IMHO, it's wrong.

I could be way off the mark here, and I am not an authority on the law by
any means, but IMHO the Australian Government (I can't comment on the US..I
just know that they want to "clean it up") just seem to be having a knee
jerk reaction instead of calmly thinking things through.
I would be very interested to know just how many of these so called
"experts" have an internet presence that they have had any involvement in
providing.

Thank you for that link to the gigalaw list, I am going to check it out
...it looks very interesting.

Again...I'm not a complete rebel...I just don't like Big Brother tactics
and we seem to be "full of it" one way or another down here lately :)

I really appreciate your input...it's an interesting subject.

Kym
