The point here is that this is just the latest example of home grown=20
contracts being a designer's worst enemy. This is not particularly about=20
this poster or this contract but more of just a continuing saga of=20
designers trying to "save" money by "doing it themselves." If the site is=
=20
a stiff, no one's probably going to care. If the site is a hit, then the=20
designer (and client) can't count the number of claims that are potentially=
=20
going to come out of the woodwork both as between themselves and third=20
parties. Very expensive. Where's the "savings" in that??? And if you=20
don't believe that *every* site you work on is going to be that "hit," why=
=20
do this work??? And if the one site that you work on is a hit and your=20
contract is a mess (or you have no contract), you lose big time. Why=20
anyone would put themselves in a lose lose situation is unclear to me in=20
the extreme.
Read "Set to Fail" on my site. Click on "Articles for Writers and=20
Publishers" since it applies to designers as well.
