The bottom line is you will have to try all kinds of things, even new things=
to
see what works best for your market and target customers. I have found
in all the sites I have developed that even within the same industry each
site has different results. Here's a few tips:
*Search engines are important but not the end all be all. Make sure
your site is SE friendly and that your monitor your listings to keep up
with all the changes.
*Network in forums or Newsgroups where your target customers may be hanging=
=20
out. Be sure to include your signature file.
*Exchange links with non-competitive but complimentary sites.
*Offer an informative properly structured monthly newsletter visitors can=20
get at no cost that keeps your site in front of them on a monthly basis.
*Write an effective press release and send it to industry specific=20
publications and the local newspapers in your area. Be sure to call first=
=20
and get the name of the person that would handle your PR first. Then be=20
sure to have a cover letter that states you will be calling to follow up=20
and answer any questions they may have - then do it.
*Just being online searching for information and resources can many times=20
provide you with opportunities and information that you didn't even know=20
you had to build awareness for your site.
Also insure that the site is properly developed so that folks don't go=20
running for the back button on arrival and you have simple and consistent=20
navigation in place that should keep them there long enough to see if they=
=20
are interested in what you have to offer.
I also have all kinds of links to great marketing products, resources and=20
tools that I have used and juried myself at=

>How many visitors can I expect in the first months?
That is all dependent on how much /you/ market the site on and=20
off-line! If you rely on free Search Engines submissions very little will=
=20
happen in the first 8-12 weeks. However by doing some of the above you can=
=20
get the ball rolling rather quickly.
>If the site goes well, how many visitors can I expect in average?
Well, "well" is subjective. I have clients who get very little traffic but=
=20
are satisfied with the results and clients who can't get enough traffic no=
=20
matter how much that is. Again, the number of visitors will depend on all=
=20
the issues mentioned above and really is unique to every site based on the=
=20
site owners actions.
>Can anyone tell me about a good affiliate program please?
For you to run or be an affiliate yourself? For your own here is a site=20
that has a bunch of scripts for you to have your own affiliate program:
