First thought: bgcolor=red but the predominant background color in the
image is white. With a text color of purple, if the background image didn't
load, the viewer would be looking at a red screen looking for the purple
text. Doesn't sound like a money-maker. bgcolor=(the predominant color in
the background image) is a rule of thumb.
Something like "Click here if you want to put this banner or your site!"
could be reduced to "Put this banner on your site!" Easily understood.
You have fontsize set to 4. I used my browser's resizing ability to make
it smaller. I'd just lose that - you don't need it.
Also, you have a table inside a table for the swinging batter gif; part
of that table I've already mentioned. The nesting is unnecessarily complex
for what you are doing here. Try something like:
<table border=0 align=right width=55>
<tr><td align=center><a href="banner"><font size=1><Img border=0
src="images/hitter.gif"><br>Proud Sponsor of Da' Bomb Girls'
Softball</font><BR><a href="banner">Click here if you want to put this
banner or your site!</a></td></tr></table>
The above is untested and suggestive; may need some tweaking.
See that <center> disappears and is replaced by <td align=center>. You
have opened a center tag in this table and not closed it, BTW. You also have
centered the entire page immediately after the body tag. I don't really
think that works well with text for reading purposes - jagged margins both
sides. Better to left justify, IMO.
I always recommend putting a doctype on the page and running it through
validators. Can learn a fair amount about what you are doing that way.
The three link images nearer the bottom - "Sponsors" "Links" "Home" -
the lettering on the "sponsors" button is noticeably not in the same
position vertically as are the other two. And the "home" button is active to
the page it's on. There can be good reasons for doing this, but usually it's
not necessary.
Guess that's it for now - hope this is of some help.
The fastpitch gif is pretty neat!
later,
Michael
