Wohoo Shane... Watch out! Now you will be flooded by "This is off topic now"
mail from certain members of this list ;) I have been already... No amount
of explanatory email response will shine any light there. My point is that
being a critique list opinions about anything (including background colour)
DO have relevance and as such should be permitted to be discussed in length.
Even if some subscribers disagree... After all supposed to be a free
country/era/mailing list !! One would always have the option of deleting the
self proclaimed "offending" mail.
BTW my site is also based on black after having the previous version on
jpg's ... No one HAS to like it except the designer of the site. Shane is
dead right about the ease of use of any kind of background be it just a
colour or something else.

Hello,
Yes, I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly with Holly. IMO it is not
a matter of what the background on the page looks like, but the content and
consistency of the overall scheme, that Makes or breaks the site. As for
using #000000 being amateurish, it is just as easy to use
background="whatever.jpg" as is anything else. Now whether you actually
create background or have someone else do it for you is a matter of artistic
talent, something very few of us possess.
Thanks,
Shane
