Compatibility & Layout check please...

Well, I'm new here to the list but I certainly like the idea of getting some
constructive criticism.

I don't do professional pages, but I'd like mine to look professional.  ;)

I could use some feedback on my pages for browser compatibility and page
layouts...  I'm in a tossup between two different layouts and I'm in the
middle of having to choose one or the other, I think.  I've gotten into
using a LITTLE Java (as little as possible).  I think for navigation it's
almost a must though, so that's what I've focused on.

One of them is:

And the other is:
http://www.hastenet.com/thelodge.htm Kinda still my homepage (2nd layout
that caught my eye)

Please browse around and give me some feedback on them...  They're not ALL
conformed to the two layouts listed above but they will be soon.  I've heard
and seen that consistency throughout is more important than content so I
know I've got to standardize.
