Shelley,
Sure can sympathize about the low-ROI sites, but one good side is that often
you get to try things that just wouldn't be permitted or understood on a
larger endeavor. Another is that these often expand your client base. That
said, some feedback...
-Your secondary navigation at the bottom of each page is hard to read on
mouse-over as are any of the links on the cream-colored pages.
- Try a calendar app like Matt Kruse's
(http://www.mattkruse.com/scripts/calendar/) for your calendar if you have
access to CGI on your host. It allows the client to do the updating and
presents it in a calendar format. I have used it successfully on
www.newberryarp.org
- site requires horizontal scroll bars at 640x480.
- make the logo a link to the home page on every page, but the home page.
- I find it easier to locate the home page if the menu option is at the top
of the list.
- I don't think all the "back to top" links are necessary, but if you are
going to use them be consistent and use on all pages that scroll a good bit.
- make the map to the studio clickable to get the larger version.
- that map is very attractive; should it have a copyright notice for the
owner?
- you can take the home link off the menu on the home page.
- on your e-mail links you might want to use form-mail in case the user does
not have an e-mail client loaded or is not at her/his normal location.
- consider adding some sort of indicator like an arrow on the menu of where
the user is on the site.
- provide a link to your web site design firm, not just an e-mail. People
will want to see other work that you have done before contacting you. Also,
give the domain name for your firm just in case they print the page.
- the e-mail address (bluemoonwebworks(at)internavigate.com) does not reflect
the professionalism you're trying to portray. I suggest
info(at)bluemoonwebworks.com or something similar.
- add keyword meta tags to your pages.
Now the good news...
- the site is attractive, easy to use, well laid out, and gets your message
across. With a few tweeks, you'll have a real winner.
