I have participated and listened to this list for over seven years.  This
message appalls me.  It has to be one of the most off-topic and untrue
statements that I have ever heard - I do not mean to sound as though I am
flaming anyone,  I am just revisiting the information to properly inform the
HWG community.  Nimda - a virus that is spread using Internet Information
Server has nothing to do with Microsoft Outlook - or any of the other email
applications on the market.  It is an exploit of a growing technology.  The
statement made about Outlook "single-handedly being responsible for
introducing email viruses" is as accurate as saying "The invention of the
telephone is single-handedly responsible for all of the phone phreaks of the
70's & 80's"  or better yet.   "Henry Ford is single-handedly responsible
for everyone who has died in a drunk driving incident!"  The fault lies in
the hands of the criminal that causes these acts - not in the opportunity
that technology provides them!

A major reason most people "blame" Microsoft and its technologies for these
things - Is because Microsoft is the first to jump on the solution.  Using
alternative applications like Pegasus, does not "FREE" you from virus
(particularly Nimda - as it has nothing to do with your email client
application - but the servers that your mail goes through.

Please refrain from making false and off-topic statements such as these in
the future.

"singlehandedly" is hyphenated!
